Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband Black Review: A Simple Motivation Gadget
The Fitbit is a lovely little fitness motivation-invention designed to track your steps, distance, and calories burned. In addition, the Fitbit tracks your sleep—both how long and how well. Fitness activities and good sleep are important for great and abiding health.
The Fitbit, worn like a bracelet provides a silent alarm for waking you up. It displays an LED light that shows how you are progressing as far as your daily fitness goal is concerned.
This particular Fitbit is touted to be comfortable, slim, and wears easily as it is very lightweight. It comes with both a small and large wristband. Reviewers state that the small band will truly fit a very small wrist and the large one can expand significantly.
So, the burning question is, how does a little do-hicky on your wrist help motivate you to keep moving throughout your day in order to meet your step goals? In truth, it’s simple psychology.
First, it’s about setting a goal, like walking 10,000 steps a day. Second, it’s about keeping that goal in front of you. The Fitbit, while reported to be easy to wear and not cumbersome does remind you of your goal. At noon, if you see you’ve completed 5,000 steps, you know you’ve reached the half-way point, and can easily finish off the 10,000 by the end of the day.
Applicable apps connect you to others using Fitbits. If you’re motivated by your own progress, then you may not need a community of Fitbit-ers. However, if not, you may want to compare and get support from others.
A number of reviewers have mentioned that the Flex band isn’t as sturdy as they’d like. Others indicate that the Fitbit doesn’t stay charged as long as indicated—which is approximately five days. Interestingly, there are reviews stating that the Fitbit meets the five day charge and even up to seven days. One wonders if there is a quality consistency problem with the Fitbit, as experiences are quite varied.
The clasp is reportedly difficult to close the first few times. Once the rubber is more malleable, this impediment is easily overcome. One reviewer stated it’s helpful to use a little body lotion in order to get the clasp to work right after purchase.
The Fitbit looks really smart, and appears to have pretty good accuracy for steps when tested.
The Fitbit is water-resistant, which makes it more desirable than other brands for many. The ability to wear the Fitbit Flex while showering means it can be a 24/7 motivator, which appeals to some customers.
The Fitbit Flex is fun, prompts inspiration to move your body and gives feedback about your sleep so you can make adjustments if need be.
Customers enjoyed using the Fitbit, which is motivation in and of itself. I’m all for opportunities to make fitness more enjoyable, social and entertaining. The Fitbit does that, giving you helpful information which you can use to advance your fitness goals.
Of course, like any trendy product, the Fitbit Flex comes in a variety of armband colours–how fun!
